CUASIMODO

CONCEPTION OF THE PROJECT, ITS REFERENTS AND SYMBOLOGIES

The Project takes place contemplating its visual character and the relationships with its surroundings and with landscape, combining these elements with the iconology that can be found in the festivity of Quasimodo.

One understands that the festivity of Quasimodo represents a great step forward for Faith, a caravan that travels to the remotest locations carrying with it the Eucharist to those who due to illness cannot go to receive it.

With the passing of the Quasimodo the caravan leaves behind the imprint of its tracks on the ground, it is a sign that time erases from the ground, but one that remains indelible in the soul of the people.

This idea is expressed on the floor of the project, where the tracks of the Quasimodo are installed; the passing of the caravan that remains indelible beneath our feet and in our hearts.

For this, what we propose is to work with the material that is excavated from the quarries of Colina, the paving stone. The idea is to install throughout the surface of this place a kind of great carpet containing all the symbols of the groups of believers in the Quasimodo; all that golden embroidery that we find in the clothes of the Quasimodo, crosses, sprigs of wheat, doves, wafers, etc. Additionally, there will be the star of the Chilean flag, the tracks of horseshoes, the tops of the flagpoles, hands, etc. The idea is that the floor bears witness to Faith, to the passing of the Quasimodo, and its multitudinous congregation of the faithful.
