Exhibitions Module – Librería Metales Pesados

The visual artist, Cristian Salineros presents “Maladjustment in landscape” a piece installed under the curatorship titled “Sculpture from nature” which basically consists of an invitation issued to a group of sculptors to develop proposals on the basis of elements of nature (trees, plants, etc.) to be worked as sculptural material.

Under the terms of the curatorship, the artists may engage with the work of the other artists; in this case, Cristian Salineros intervenes the work of Birke: he builds a wooden platform that he places in the centre of the module, generating a duplicate panorama of the tree growing from the earth, as well as that of its roots resting on a polyester pot. This game of mirrors from top to bottom and from bottom to top concludes with five inverted trees that will grow “in the negative” depending on the point of view of the spectator.

The platform of earth was also seeded with grass, pumpkin, carrot, cucumber and other crops.

The artist indicates that his intervention fantasizes with the idea of landscape, upon witnessing habitual growth faced with eccentric growth, where each the development of each species would cause a maladjustment of scale. Likewise, the relationship between the parts generates a harmony of sorts, considering that this natural materiality has its own laws that adjust within the maladjustment produced by art.
